The Monroe Pearson building has been part of the Denton community since the 1890s, and you can find it right off the Square. It was originally a warehouse that was built in three phases and was primarily used as a grocery portal. During this time, the Square was a pivotal part of the community, much like it is now. Grocery stores could be found all around the square and throughout the neighboring blocks. The Monroe Pearson was the main supplier of the mom and pop grocery stores, and it eventually became a general warehouse. After years of standing empty, there was talk of it becoming a site for apartments or condos, but those plans changed.
However, the Monroe Pearson’s future looks bright.
The Monroe Pearson will be transformed into an industrial-style wedding venue that will keep the historical charm this building had held for so long. Stay tuned for further details, renderings, and date availability in the coming weeks.
